RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning Donation from District 4 Discretionary Funds for Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities - Commissioner Grover Robinson, District 4

That the Board approve the contribution of $2,000 discretionary funds by Commissioner Grover Robinson to the 501c3 non-profit Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Program in Pensacola. Upon Board approval, the County Administrator's Office will issue a payment request.

BACKGROUND:

This program is funded through the Good Works Partnerships, Inc., and is affiliated with Major League Baseball. The mission statement is to increase participation and interest in baseball and softball among underserved youth, encourage academic participation and achievement, and teach the value of teamwork. RBI works through partnerships with the Boys and Girls Club, Escambia County Fire and Rescue, and now the City of Pensacola.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The Board approved $50,000 in the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Budget for each Commissioner to use as discretionary funds.
