RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Confirmation of Dr. Rayme Edler as Medical Director for Escambia County Emergency Medical Services and the Corrections Department - Jack R. Brown, County Administrator

That the Board confirm the hiring of Dr. Rayme Edler as the Medical Director for Escambia County Emergency Medical Services and the Corrections Department, with an annual salary of $190,000 per year, plus the same benefits other County employees receive along with a County vehicle, effective May 7, 2018. This position is currently budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Budget and will replace Dr. Paul Henning, former Medical Director.

[Funding: Fund 408, Emergency Medical Services, Cost Center 330302, for 50% of the cost; and Fund 001, General Fund, Corrections Cost Center 290402, for 50% for the cost]

BACKGROUND:

On Monday, April 2, 2018, the Selection Committee for the Medical Director interviewed the three candidates who applied for this position. The Committee unanimously selected Dr. Edler as the top candidate for the position.

The Selection Committee consisted of: Jack R. Brown, County Administrator; Matt Coughlin, Assistant County Administrator; Mike Weaver, Director of Public Safety; Selina Barnes, Jail Commander; Steve White, Division Manager, EMS; Dr. David Neal, ER Physician, West Florida Hospital and former Medical Director; and Ellison Bennett, NAACP.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The Medical Director position was included in the Fiscal Year 2017/2018 budget.
