BACKGROUND: |
Meeting in regular session on April 23, 2015, approved Agreement PD 14-15.040 (Dredging of Lafitte Cove Canal) to Coastal Reef Builders, Inc., to mechanically dredge up to 1,200 cubic yards of material at the entrance of the canal. The duration of the agreement shall not exceed 3 years and 6 months; however, the County may unilaterally extend the agreement up to an additional six months.
November 04, 2016, the board approved the first 12-month Agreement extension, effective April 24, 2016, to Coastal Reef Builders, Inc.
April 20, 2017, the board approved the second 12-month Agreement extension, effective April 24, 2017, to Coastal Reef Builders, Inc.
Escambia County Public Works staff manages the dredging agreement, and is requesting the six month extension to allow for Bosso-Imhof Environmental Sciences (under task order currently) to receive the necessary dredging permit renewal approvals from the appropriate agencies.
Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) provides the funding annually ($65K) to the County to manage the dredging activities.
The extension would terminate October 23, 2018, at which time county staff plans to recommend Board approval of a new agreement for the dredging activities. |
