Recommendation Concerning Supplemental Budget Amendment #071 - Stephan Hall, Budget Manager, Management and Budget Services

That the Board adopt the Resolution approving Supplemental Budget Amendment #071, Library Fund (113), in the amount of $6,496, to recognize Grant proceeds from the Panhandle Library Access Network, and to appropriate these funds to be used to purchase an Oculus Rift + Touch, a leading virtual reality device, to purchase a large format printer and three silhouette machines with startup supplies, and to fund travel for an employee to attend YALSA's Young Adult Services Symposium.

BACKGROUND:

Escambia County on behalf of West Florida Public Library System has received three grants from the Panhandle Library Access Network (PLAN). These funds will be used to purchase an Oculus Rift + Touch, a leading virtual reality device, a large format printer and three silhouette machines with startup supplies, and to fund travel for an employee to attend YALSA's Young Adult Services Symposium. The training and technology funds acquired by the grants are being used to implement STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) programming at the libraries.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

This amendment will increase Fund 113 by $6,496.
