RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning the Purchase of Hardware and Continued Data Monitoring of the Current Global Positioning System - Joy D. Blackmon, P.E., Public Works Department Director

That the Board approve the purchase of additional Global Positioning System (GPS) hardware units and data monitoring costs with Networkfleet, Inc., in the amount of $123,017.  This amount would provide for the purchase of an additional 110 hardware units with data monitoring service and the continued monitoring service of the current Escambia County vehicles equipped with GPS units through September 30, 2017.  This hardware purchase and monitoring service will utilize the existing General Services Administration (GSA) Contract # GS-07F-5559R.

BACKGROUND:

Meeting in regular session on February 2, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners approved the purchase, installation, and monitoring of 431 Global Positioning System (GPS) units and the continued monitoring of 200 units already in place in Escambia County vehicles for a period of one year. This Purchase Order with Networkfleet, Inc., will extend the purchase of equipment to include 110 additional units for Fire Service vehicles and the continued data monitoring of the total units through September 30, 2017, bringing the next contract period in line with the County fiscal year calendar.


 

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Funding is available in Fund 175 "Transportation Trust Fund" , Center 210405, Object Code 55201 and 53401.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

This contract is authorized for use by local and state agencies under the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 84, Contract #GS-07F-5559R.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

These actions are consistent with the provisions of Section 46-88, 94 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances; requests for proposals, cooperative purchases.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon Board approval, the Office of Purchasing will issue the Contract and Purchase Order; staff will coordinate implementation of the contracted services.
