RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning Utilization of the Second of Two Possible One-Year Renewal Periods Provided for in the Agreement for Commissary Services for the Escambia County Jail, PD13-14.063 - William R. Powell, Director of Corrections

That the Board approve the utilization of the second of two possible one-year renewal periods provided for under Section 6 of PD13-1-4.063, Agreement for Commissary Services for the Escambia County Jail.

[Funding:  This is a revenue generating Agreement benefiting the Detention/Jail Commissary Fund, Fund 111]
BACKGROUND:
On July 14, 2014, the County issued an Invitation to Bidders (PD13-14.063) seeking vendors to provide commissary services to the Escambia County Jail.  On December 11, 2014, the County entered into an agreement with Aramark Correctional Services, LLC as a result of the solicitation.  Section 6 of the respective agreement outlines the term of the agreement.  The term is listed as three years with two possible one-year extensions if mutually agreed upon by both parties.  It is the request of the Corrections Department that we utilize the second of the two possible additional one-year terms for the period of April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.  This agreement will be re-solicited during fiscal year 2020.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
This is a revenue generating agreement benefiting the Detention/Jail Commissary Fund, Fund 111.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:
Kristin Hual, Assistant County Attorney, reviewed the intial agreement.  The utilization of the extension as provided for in section 6 of the agreement does not requrie an amendment to the agreement.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:
The Board has indicated that they wish to review those agreements in which the County indicates the desire to exercise the option to utilize renewal periods beyond the initial term of the agreement.
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
Upon approval, the Corrections Department will work with the vendor to insure the continued provision of services as outlined in the agreement.
