RECOMMENDATION:
5:33 p.m. Public Hearing to Consider Creating Volume 1, Chapter 94, Article I, Section 94-9 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances relating to Dockless Shared Micromobility Devices.

Recommendation: That the Board adopt an Ordinance creating Volume 1, Chapter 94, Article I, Section 94-9 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances relating to Dockless Shared Micromobility Devices on Pensacola Beach.
BACKGROUND:
Recent changes to the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law allow counties to enact ordinances to permit, control, or regulate the operation of vehicles, golf carts, mopeds, motorized scooters, and other mobility devices on sidewalks or sidewalk areas, so long as certain requirements are met.  The Santa Rosa Island Authority requested the Board of County Commissioners enact an ordinance governing the use and operation of micromobility devices and motorized scooters on Pensacola Beach.  County Attorney staff drafted this Ordinance, which regulates the operation of micromobility devices on Pensacola Beach, prohibits their use in the Commercial Core Area of Pensacola Beach, and creates a shared micromobility device pilot program.
