RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning State Law Enforcement Trust Fund - Henrique Dias, Chief Financial Officer, Escambia County Sheriff's Office Finance Division

That the Board approve the following allocations of Law Enforcement Trust (LET) Funds, per the requirements of F.S. 932.7055(5) for Outside Agency partners in Escambia County for Fiscal Year 2018/2019:

A. Ferry Pass Middle School, in the amount of $1,000;

B. The Studer Family Children's Hospital at Sacred Heart, in the amount of $5,000;

C. Men's Barn Meeting, Inc., in the amount of $3,000;

D. Pensacola Sports, in the amount of $10,000;

E. WSRE-TV Foundation, Inc., in the amount of $10,000;

F. Tate High School Softball Booster Club, Inc., in the amount of $1,000; and

G. Capstone Adaptive Learning & Therapy Centers, Inc., in the amount of $500.

Upon approval of these funding allocations the Sheriff’s Office will process all appropriate paperwork and submit for payment from LET Funds to the Escambia Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.

BACKGROUND:

Per F.S. 932.7055(5), certain law enforcement activities generate a revenue stream that must be appropriated into the Law Enforcement Trust to be expended by the Sheriff. These funds support various law enforcement related activities in Escambia County.

Ferry Pass Middle School - $1,000
The Studer Family Children's Hospital at Sacred Heart - $5,000
Men's Barn Meeting Inc. - $3,000
Pensacola Sports - $10,000
WSRE-TV Foundation Inc. - $10,000
Tate High School Softball Booster Club Inc. - $1,000
Capstone Adaptive Learning & Therapy Centers Inc - $500

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

These funds may be expended upon request by the sheriff to the board of county commissioners or by the chief of police to the governing body of the municipality, accompanied by a written certification that the request complies with the provisions of this subsection, and only upon appropriation to the sheriff’s office or police department by the board of county commissioners or the governing body of the municipality.
