Recommendation Concerning a Resolution Supporting Local Educational Initiatives, Publicity and Promotional Activities to Increase Community Awareness and Participation in the 2020 Census - Janice P. Gilley, County Administrator

That the Board adopt, and authorize the Chairman to sign, the Resolution supporting local educational initiatives, publicity and promotional activities to increase community awareness and participation in the 2020 Census.

BACKGROUND:

The United Sates of America has performed a nationwide census every ten years since 1790, with the last census being in 2010.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

The Resolution has been approved as to form and legal sufficiency by the County Attorney's Office.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

Resolutions, Agreements and Contracts Policy: Board Policy Section II.B.8.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Appointed County and City staff will work with census bureau officials to enhance and increase the response rate to Census 2020. Staff will be designated to work on this project from October 2019, through and including, July 2020.
