RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Funding Allocation to Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools of the Central Gulf Coast - Commissioner Lumon May, District 3

That the Board approve the Funding Allocation in the amount of $1,500 from Commissioner May’s discretionary money to support Children’s Defense Freedom Schools of the Central Gulf Coast.

BACKGROUND:

The CSD Freedom Schools of the Central Gulf Coast believes that reading unlocks the door to children’s dreams and unlimited potential. CDF Freedom Schools are in 92 other cities nationwide.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The Board approved $50,000 in the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget for each Commissioner to use discretionary money.
