RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Director of Facilities Management - Janice P. Gilley, County Administrator

That the Board confirm the hiring of Cassie Boatwright as Director of Facilities Management with an annual salary of $108,586.20, a $400 monthly vehicle allowance and up to $3,000.00 for relocation expenses. This position is currently budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2019-2020.

BACKGROUND:

The position of Director of Facilities Management was advertised for 30 days. Phone interviews were conducted in December by the Interim Assistant County Administrator and department directors. The candidates were narrowed to five. Two candidates withdrew and three candidates made personal presentations at forums attended by Escambia County department directors. The candidates forums were followed by tours of the old jail and the new jail construction project. Candidates concluded with an interview with the County Administrator. After deliberation and references were contacted, Ms. Cassie Boatwright was chosen as the top candidate.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Position is budgeted for Fiscal Year 2019-2020.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

F.S. 125.74 (1) (k)Select, employ, and supervise all personnel and fill all vacancies, positions, or employment under the jurisdiction of the Board. However, the employment of all department heads shall require confirmation by the Board of County Commissioners.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon Board approval, the County Administrator's Office will coordinate with the Human Resources Department and prepare the necessary paperwork.
