RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning a Request for Disposition of Property for the Department of Natural Resources Management - J. Taylor "Chips" Kirschenfeld, Director, Department of Natural Resources Management

That the Board approve the Request for Disposition of Property Form relating to a Quanti-Tray Sealer System that no longer functions reliably. This item will be used as a trade-in for a discount of up to 37 percent towards a replacement.

BACKGROUND:

The Quanti-Tray Sealer System, model 2X 89-1U894-02, is used by the Escambia County Water Quality Laboratory (ECWQL) for bacterial analysis using the most probable number (MPN) model according to Standard Methods for quantifying total coliforms, E. coli, enterococci in water and wastewater. The sealer system is no longer capable of functioning reliably as required by method. It cannot be reasonably repaired. As a result, ECWQL has experienced increased supply costs across the board for bacteria based monitoring efforts. Water Quality & Land Management (WQLM) Division is currently in the process of obtaining quotes to purchase a replacement unit using grant funds. Manufacturer has offered a discount of up to 37 percent off of the purchase of a replacement sealer system.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

No budgetary impact associated with the disposition of property.

No legal consideration/sign-off associated with this recommendation.

PERSONNEL:

No impact to personnel associated with this recommendation.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

Board Policy Section II, Part B.1., Procedures for Disposition of Property.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon approval by the Board, Water Quality staff will remove the property number tag and it will be returned to the Clerk's Office.
