RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning a Memorandum of Understanding Between Escambia County and AMIKids Pensacola, Inc., for Support and Donation of Grant - Clara Long, Interim Neighborhood & Human Services Department Director
 
That the Board take the following action concerning a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Escambia County and AMIKids Pensacola, Inc., to support the Block by Block Project:

A. Approve funding, in the amount of $50,000, to support the AMIKIds Pensacola, Inc., Workforce Development Program, as outlined in the MOU;

B. Authorize the Chairman to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between Escambia County and AMIKids Pensacola, Inc., to support the donation of the Grant to AMIKids Pensacola, Inc., Workforce Development Program, as outlined in the Agreement; and

C. Authorize County Administration to take any further actions necessary to implement the Agreement.

BACKGROUND:
AMIKids Pensacola, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization serving the youth of Escambia County through its Workforce Development Program. AMIKids Pensacola provides workforce training at no cost to eligible young adults to include National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification courses with a focus on carpentry and masonry, SafeStaff & ServSafe food handlers, and offers additional services like job placement, job fairs, and other career services. AMIKids is dedicated to helping youths of Escambia County develop into responsible and productive citizens for the benefit of the community and for economic development. AMIKids works in partnership with youth agencies, local communities, and families. The funding will be used to support services provided by AMIKids Pensacola, Inc.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
This funding request was approved by theBoard in the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget. Funds are available in Fund 001, General Fund, Cost Center 370102.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

The Memorandum of Understanding has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney’s Office.

PERSONNEL:
No additional staff is required.
POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:
This action is consistent with the Board's stated goal to support workforce development within the community. Board approval is required for disbursement of funds to all private individuals or outside agencies.
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
Upon Board approval, Neighborhood & Human Services staff will coordinate the funding in support of AMIKids Pensacola's Workforce Development Program and obtain any necessary paperwork to process this request.
